A nostalgic classic, made better for you
Welcome to my very first recipe post! And what better way to kick things off than with a meal that’s equal parts comfort food and high protein goodness?
Important Disclaimers:
- I promise not to write a novel before every recipe. Pinky swear.
- You aren’t going to find any reinventing of the wheel here and you won’t find anything that requires too much brain power (can I get an AMEN).
A requirement for meals around here are that they are simple, efficient, high protein and nutrient dense – most of the time. I generally don’t enjoy cooking and won’t pretend to be cooking up any elaborate meals! But I do love food that tastes great and supports our lifestyle. If it’s not SUPER SIMPLE, it doesn’t make the cut.
Why This Recipe?
When Brandon and I were first married, we basically lived off of Hamburger Helper. I was 18, couldn’t cook, we had no money, and zero clue about nutrition. We had no business pretending to be adults but we sure tried!
Now, years later, I still crave that cozy, nostalgic flavor but with a better for you twist.
✔️ The kids loved it
✔️ I loved it
✔️ It fits our goals
This one’s for the tired, the hungry, and the craving comfort crowd. It’s not fancy, it’s just good food that works for real life.
Enjoy, friend!

Notes
- Nutritional information is an estimate and will vary with substitutions.
- You could add some veggies too! Spinach, carrots, zucchini, bell pepper.
- You can substitute any protein noodles, these are just what I have available.
- I like to jazz it up with some jalapenos and hot sauce for my personal bowl as well!
