A nostalgic classic, made better for you

Welcome to my very first recipe post! And what better way to kick things off than with a meal that’s equal parts comfort food and high protein goodness?

Important Disclaimers:

  1. I promise not to write a novel before every recipe. Pinky swear.
  2. You aren’t going to find any reinventing of the wheel here and you won’t find anything that requires too much brain power (can I get an AMEN).

A requirement for meals around here are that they are simple, efficient, high protein and nutrient dense – most of the time. I generally don’t enjoy cooking and won’t pretend to be cooking up any elaborate meals! But I do love food that tastes great and supports our lifestyle. If it’s not SUPER SIMPLE, it doesn’t make the cut.

Why This Recipe?

When Brandon and I were first married, we basically lived off of Hamburger Helper. I was 18, couldn’t cook, we had no money, and zero clue about nutrition. We had no business pretending to be adults but we sure tried!

Now, years later, I still crave that cozy, nostalgic flavor but with a better for you twist.

✔️ The kids loved it
✔️ I loved it
✔️ It fits our goals

This one’s for the tired, the hungry, and the craving comfort crowd. It’s not fancy, it’s just good food that works for real life.

Enjoy, friend!

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef with the onions and seasonings.

Notes

  • Nutritional information is an estimate and will vary with substitutions.
  • You could add some veggies too! Spinach, carrots, zucchini, bell pepper.
  • You can substitute any protein noodles, these are just what I have available.
  • I like to jazz it up with some jalapenos and hot sauce for my personal bowl as well!
